Dear BBQ Master and Fellow Fun Seeker:
The Fourth Annual Cameron Crossroads BBQ Cook-off will be here before we know it. The dates are June 27 and 28 (Friday and Saturday). We can’t wait.
This year we will repeat the good weather, fine music and a Friday afternoon classic car show that can’t be beat. Once again, the event will be held at the same downtown venue. The car show will conclude around 8 p.m. on Friday, but we see a lot of the car owners and enthusiasts sticking around for the music and to visit with the Midwest's award winning BBQ teams. We are still scouting for music talent.
The competition format this year will comprise the basic four KCBS categories, A Kids-Q, Tasters Choice and a dessert category. So, plan to bring the entire family or whomever to fill out your team. Prize money will be something in excess of $5,000.
For those who want to come in on Thursday evening, there is an added treat. The Cameron Municipal Band will entertain from eight to nine p.m. with a warm-up bonus from six to seven. We plan to park the first-come RVs on the west side of the park (Cherry Street). Free electricity will be provided at each stall next to the street. Water can be drawn on the south side of the Fireman's Memorial in the center of the park.
The Kids-Q will commence on Saturday at 10 a.m. (Details will be provided upon entry.) Judging starts at 10:30 a.m. or thereabout. After cooking, the child can do whatever he/she wants for embellishment. There is a $50 savings bond for the winner.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. We will look forward to your entry in the Cameron Crossroads BBQ Cook-Off.
Sincerely,
Phil Lammers
Coordinator
