Economic Development

The Kansas City Business Journal headlined: "Cameron practices no-holds-barred strategy for economic development", with aggressive recruiting of industry, retail and housing. Cameron boasts a 100 acre industrial park; tax increment financing; new airport; low taxes; and, at the intersection of I-35 and U.S. 36, it's known as the Crossroads of the Nation.

Crossroads Corporate Center:

Crossroads Corporate Center looking East

This view of the Crossroads Corporate Center shows the rear of the theater/skating complex as well as Missouri Federal Savings Bank, Dollar General Store, and KKWK/KMRN radio. The “Blue Roof Inn” in the distance is actually the colorful Crossroads Correctional Center. Just out of the picture is the Wal-Mart SuperCenter which initiated development in the business park in 1995. Ten companies have chosen to call the Crossroads Corporate Center home.

Appliances, entertainment, building materials, furniture, finance, services, discount retail and more are available in the bustling Crossroads Corprate Center, a mixed-use commercial development in Cameron’s busy northland commercial area. The growth was spurred by use of tax increment financing for public infrastructure improvements with 10-year bonds paid off in six years due to increased commercial activity.
