Check the map for the day of the week the refuse will be picked up in your area. On the collection day for your area, residents will place their trash containers at the alley no later than 7:30 a.m., or if there is no alley, at the street. Exceptions will be made where the resident is incapacitated or physically unable to place their trash container at a designated place by calling R & W Container.
Residential solid waste shall be bagged and stored in reusable containers of no more than thirty (30) gallons nominal capacity. Containers shall be leak proof, waterproof and fitted with a fly-tight lid and shall be properly covered at all times. Disposable plastic waste containers shall not exceed seventy-five (75) pounds. No steel barrels please.
Trash is defined as: paper, empty food and drink containers, cans, bottles, glass and crockery (as defined in Chapter 5, Article III, Cameron City Codes).
The monthly cost of the residential pickup is $8.79 for once a week pickup and will be added to the regular monthly utility bill.
R & W Container has contracted with the City of Cameron to pick up all residential solid waste. The phone number is 816-632-3590.
These holidays will make trash collection run on a different schedule than normal (usually one day late):
Christmas – New Years – Thanksgiving – Independence Day – Labor Day & Memorial Day
Residential trash does not consist of: appliances, construction materials, large pieces of metal, furniture, paint or hazardous chemicals/materials.
The City of Cameron provides 2 large trash pickups per year. Normally in April and October. These dates are published in the local papers. These special pickups are for items not normally collected during the weekly pickups.
From May 1 through November 30 of each year, the City of Cameron has contracted for yard waste to be picked up on your regular trash day. Brush should be bundled in no larger than 18” in diameter and no longer than 4’ lengths.
